Skiing
Auberge de l'Arac is only 30 minutes away from the Pyrenean ski-resort of Guzet Neige . Small by Alpine standards, it offers a brilliant environment for complete beginners (as we were when we first arrived) but also some challenging runs for those with more experience. As it is relatively unknown, there are no tour groups to compete with for space on the pistes and during term time, queuing for the lifts is virtually unheard of. If you are thinking of heading out onto the slopes for the first time in your life, everything you need is at this resort and we will be more than happy to help you get started.
 Not much further away is Ax 3 Domaines (1hr drive), a much larger resort nestled in the mountains above the spa town of Ax-les Thermes and it is even possible to go for a day's skiing in Andorra or Superbagneres (both 2 hrs drive) if you wish to venture further afield .
For those who prefer cross-country skiing, there are resorts at Etang de Lers and Plateau de Beille as well as a few others. See the link below for more details.
And finally, those who prefer to take life at a more sedate pace can always give snowshoeing a go. There are plenty of trails in Ariege and it's easy to get started.
